This drama really brought my year of 2017 to a happy ending Story/plot -10- I heard that this storyline was very similar to a Japanese drama/manga called âItazura na Kissâ; however, I have never watched the drama, or any of their remakes, so I am writing this review with nothing to compare it to, pretty much. With that being said, I loved the storyline of this cutesy, heart-warming drama! The cliche style of a not-so-smart girl liking the perfect guy definitely took a positive turn in this show! The transition between high school to college to adult life was pretty smooth, in my opinion, with majority of it focused during their high school years, which made it an innocent and light drama. As the story moves on to the adult life, the relationship between the main leads became more intimate, which made me squeal so many times at 2 o'clock in the -10- The height difference between the 160cm Chen Xiao Xi played by Shen Yue and the tall 188cm Jiang Chen played by Hu Yi Tian made me squeal every time! Both of the main leads are decently new faces to the entertainment world, and they definitely made a good impression, on me at least haha! For her first main-lead role in a drama, Shen Yue did a spectacular job of performing the different sides and attitudes of the character, Chen Xiao Xi, from the happy, always positive high school youth to the independent grown women that Chen Xiao Xi becomes later on in the drama. NOW, LETâS TALK ABOUT HU YI TIAN! OMG, HE IS SOME HAWT STUFF! So cute, and for his first main-lead role, he played it really well! Itâs hard to fall in love with someone who plays a, supposedly, cold-hearted, not caring character, but later on, we find out that the character, Jiang Chen, is pretty much the opposite! The way Hu Yi Tian smirks and acts to care for Chen Xiao Xi in the drama can make any girl's heart flutter! I think I found my next man crush tbh The supporting roles might have not done a whole lot, but their contribution played a huge impact throughout the whole show, and it made the drama 100X better! Nothing to complain in general, great leads, great actors/actresses, and great chemistry! Music -10- The opening song is truly the perfect fit for the drama! When I first heard it, I already loved it and how the melody matches the dramaâs theme, but after reading the lyrics, it made me love the song even more! If you donât believe me, take a look yourself I especially love the line âwo xihuan ni pei wo kanshu fen xin kan wo tou xiaoâ which translates to âI like you when youâre accompanying me to read a book, distracted by looking at me, smiling quietly,â it brings back many ridiculous smiles when I watched the drama, and I can't seem to stop replaying the song in my head now!Rewatch value -8- I love A Love so Beautiful and I have rewatched my favorite parts more than a dozen time, but I am sorry, I canât rewatch the whole drama from the beginning to end more than once. I am not sure exactly why, but I guess the whole drama wasnât capturing enough for me? For the parts that I love though, I have rewatched it so many times, and I will never get bored of rewatching them!Overall -9- This drama truly created a great end to my 2017! The sweet, yet simple story is my cup of tea! I canât seem to let go of this drama, it was too good and too sweet! The characters played their parts so well, the mixture of the songs and the cute relationships between the characters are too much to be given up so easily. So sad that I watched it in only 2 days! I wish I would have spent more time to savor every second!If you are looking for a romantic, and heart-warming drama that takes place mainly during the high school life and transitions to more serious matters later on, A Love so Beautiful is definitely the drama for you! After Cha Heon leaves and returns, episode 21 brings a sweet conclusion to Jin-hwan and Ha-youngâs story. The episode opens up with Sol-i calling Cha Heon. She tells him that the kiss was a big mistake and that he cannot do that again without permission. But, it wasnât Cha Heon who answered, it was Dr Seo Ji-su who picked up his phone. Sol-i is embarrassed. When Cha Heon understands that Sol-i called, he panics and takes the phone off Seo Ji-su. And then the scene flits to Ha-young trying on a wedding dress, and Jin-hwan is in complete awe looking at her. He calls her an angel. Cha Heon tells Sol-i that they will make up Later in the day, at the hospital, Cha Heon and Sol-i have lunch together. He asks her if they can make up. Sheâs clearly not over what happened, and she states they broke up three years ago. Cha Heon feels they didnât break-up and as she walks off, he tells her they are going to make up. He knows they are made for each other and he refuses to let her go. Dae-sung has an engagement ring and Sol-i bumps into Hui-ji Itâs the day of the wedding and Dae-sung brings the rings. He accidentally gives his friend another ring with a massive diamond before going through his coat and finding the wedding rings. It looks like Dae-sung is planning to propose to Sol-i â youâd think by now heâd assume that Cha Heon and Sol-i are inveitable. At the wedding, Sol-i bumps into Hui-ji. Flashbacks show the night that Cha Heon comforted Hui-ji and they hugged â she was suffering from depression and Sol-i misread the situation. When she tries kissing him, Cha Heon looked away. In the present day, Hui-ji admits to Sol-i that she was young and foolish back then, and cared only for her feelings, knowing full well Cha Heon only wanted Sol-i. This was a sweet admission by the character and provided further context for Sol-i. The ending The wedding ceremony happens, and Jin-hwan and Ha-young are officially married. During a spin the bottle, another student is about to reveal that she likes Cha Heon, so Sol-i distracts the situation and pretends to have a stomach ache. Cha Heon reveals that Sol-i is his girlfriend and he needs to help her. As they walk home, Sol-i asks him if he meant it, that sheâs his girlfriend. Cha Heon confirms that he did. They are official. Sol-i is over-the-moon. Itâs only taken them 18 episodes, but they finally made it. Sol-i doesnât remember their first kiss The next scene confirms that Sol-i believes theyâve only held hands â she doesnât remember the drunken kiss. Ha-young wants to teach her the ropes. Later on, at a restaurant, Cha Heon asks Sol-i to stay with him for the night, and she is increasingly anxious. Cha Heon changes the tone and says he wants her to stay at the library with him â itâs difficult to gauge who backed out of this situation; Iâm sure Sol-i would have overcome her anxiety eventually. Later on, at the park bench, Cha Heon kisses Sol-i on the cheek, and she gets embarrassed. They are both excited to be around each other. Ha-young gets hit on a lot We learn how insecure Jin-hwan gets in A Love So Beautiful Episode 18, but itâs no surprise when he has his childhood sweetheart. In a cafe, a man hits on Ha-young and Jin-hwan gets super jealous and confronts the man. Jin-hwan learns that Ha-young gets hit on a lot and he is a little irritated and shouts around the cafe in her defense. Ha-young kisses him on the cheek to reassure him. I think this character needs to calm down a little! Jin-hwan breaks up with Ha-young Jin-hwanâs health problems persist, but the way he handles obstacles in his relationship is still immature â you get the feeling in future episodes, this will come back to bite him. At the hospital, Cha Heon visits Jin-hwan on his hospital bed and asks him when he will tell Ha-young about his latest condition. Jin-hwan asks his friend to keep it a secret. At a cafe, Jin-hwan gives Ha-young a ring and asks her if they can break up because they are getting sick of each other. Ha-young is understandably upset, but Jin-hwan walks off. Heâs obviously lying so he doesnât put her through his health condition. In the next scene, Sol-i and Cha Heon visit him as he prepares for surgery. The ending Ha-young turns up, and Jin-hwan is shocked. She knew what he was going through. She tells him itâs okay as long as he survives and that she will wait until after surgery. Jin-hwan wells up. The scene then flits to June 2014, and Ha-young is sitting on Jin-hwanâs old hospital bed. Her love and care for him are apparent.
